Bear Den - Third Grade

THIRD GRADE: Ages 8-9

DEN LEADERS:  Tim Cook and Joe Rothwall

MEETINGS: 2nd and 4th Sunday   Time: 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

LOCATION: Scout Hut at Kelly Cofer Park

The Bear Cub Scout program is for boys and girls going into 3rd grade or between ages 8-9.

First, all new scouts will work on earning the Bobcat patch. For the Bobcat rank, scouts will learn the basics of Cub Scouts.

Bears will learn about hand tools and how to use them and earn the Whittling Chip, by learning knife safety and using a pocket knife to carve a simple item. Bears will learn more about camping and the great outdoors as well as being involved in the community.

To earn the Bear patch:

Your scout will need to complete the 6 main adventures, 1 elective adventure, and Whittling Chip found in the Bear Handbook. They will also need to watch a Protect Yourself video

When your scout completes an adventure, they will get a belt loop at the next Pack Meeting.

As a den, we will work on 5 of the main adventures and 1 elective together.

The “Duty to God” adventure, Youth Protection booklet and Protect Yourself video is to be done at home as a family.

You can also help your scout earn adventures at home, please let the den leader or advancement chair know when you complete an adventure so it can be marked and awarded.
